Dr Rick Spencer, who founded Alacritas, has worked in vacuum coating and thin films for almost 20 years. He is the author of many thin film patents and technical papers on thin films on magnetron sputtering, surface modification and thin film processes. . He was Research and Development Manager for 10 years at Applied Vision working with magnetron sputter deposition technology for optical coatings. Rick has experience in a wide variety of thin film and vacuum coating applications including :-

Alacritas Consultancy Ltd., was set up in February 2002 to offer techical support and training to users and manufacturers of thin films, vacuum and plasma systems. Alacritas also act as agents for a range of thin film and vacuum measurement systems (Huettinger DC, Pulsed DC, Bias and Arc power supplies, and Intellemetrics for quartz crystal rate monitors, optical monitors and laser endpoint detectors).

Alacritas Consultancy Ltd., can also offer optical coating design using the 'Essential Macleod' design package from Angus Macleods' thin film center.
